Can Good Works Save Us? What Does The Bible Say?

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost…. Titus 3:5

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  Ephesians 2: 8,9

What do these two verses have in common? They both tell us that we can’t be saved by our good works. Remember that if we break one Commandment, it is like breaking them all. “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10

We are not saved by our good works, and we should be punished for our sins. What is the answer then? God showed us mercy. He provided the forgiveness of our sins, by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. On the Cross, Jesus paid for your sins. Jesus did keep the whole law and lived a perfect life. Only a person who lived a perfect life could die in the place of another who did not live a perfect life. It is called, ‘The Great Exchange”. Have you turned away from your sins, and trusted in Jesus Christ as your only provision for forgiveness of your sins? You can talk to God right now and ask Him to cleanse you for your sins. He will cleanse you from every sin that you ever committed. And He will also give you the power to be able to say ‘no’ to sin, when you are tempted. Trust in Him now. Please send me an email if you have questions on this. I will be glad to pray for you. If this is your first time of trusting Christ, please let me know also. Send emails to
