Only Sinners Can Be Saved

From the book of Luke, chapter 7

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to the meal.

And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table to eat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what kind of woman this is that is touching him: for she is a sinner.

And Jesus answering said to him, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Master, say on.

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And He said to him, You have rightly judged.

And He turned to the woman, and said to Simon,Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

You gave me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet.

My head with oil you did not anoint: but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.

Wherefore I tell you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.

And He said to her, your sins are forgiven.

And those who sat with Him to eat began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also?

And He said to the woman, your faith hath saved you; go in peace.

Are you a Sinner or a Righteous Person? Here’s how you can tell: Have you always kept the 10 Commandments perfectly 24/7 all your life? If not, you are a Sinner. Here’s the Good News; Only Sinners can be saved. People who are righteous cannot be saved. Jesus died for Sinners, so that went they repent of their sin and turn to God and trust in what Jesus did for them on the Cross 2000 years ago, they can be saved. Only a saved person can go to heaven. So, if you are a righteous person and have never broken the Commandments (or you think you haven’t) that would be bad news, wouldn’t it? Only Sinners go to heaven. Only Sinners can receive a new heart from God. Only Sinners can be delivered and set free from their sins. Only Sinners can have a relationship with God. Sin doesn’t bring us to God. God has to punish sin in hell for eternity. But Jesus died for Sinners only. He came to call Sinners to repentance. Repentance is a gift from God to Sinners. Repentance makes it so Sinners can be set free from sin. So, do you want to be saved from sin? Repent and trust in Jesus.
